Skies were generally partly to mostly clear across much of north central Texas this evening with south to southeast winds of around 10 to 15 mph. A cluster of showers and thunderstorms was noted this evening across western North Texas just to the west of Wichita Falls. This activity is expected to slowly move to the east and southeast and may impact locations across Jack...wise...and Montague counties around or just after midnight. Thunderstorms may result in gusty winds...large hail...heavy rain...and frequent cloud to ground lightning. Otherwise...expect generally quiet conditions...with temperatures in the 70s. Skies should remain partly to mostly clear across most areas.

1954 - The temperature at Rio Grande City, TX, hit 108 degrees, which for thirty years was a U.S. record for the month of March. (The Weather Channel)
1987 - March went out like a lion in the northeastern U.S. A slow moving storm produced heavy snow in the Lower Great Lakes Region, and heavy rain in New England. Heavy rain and melting snow caused catastrophic flooding along rivers and streams in Maine and New Hampshire.
